I have been looking at different music videos by Jimmy Eat World. The video below by Jimmy eat World showed a variety shots of the band. This video gave me ideas of the possible band shots that our group could use but in our own style.
By taking a wide range of band shots would help us when we go to edit our music video as we would have plenty of choices.

Looking at music videos
Today in class we looked at some different music videos by Jimmy Eat World and other artists to see if we could think of any new ideas for our music video as we felt that we needed more.
We still havn't full finished our story board, and are still thinking about the ending of the video. We want to have a wide variety of shots for the video so that when it comes to editing we have a variety to choose from, and also if there is a problem with one we can find an alternative.

Storyboard
We have now started making a storyboard for the music video. For our story board we have made seperate pages, one is for all the band shots, and one is for all the storyline shots. We thought this would be a good way to draw our storyboards as it won't confuse us with the storyline and the band shots when we go onto filming our video. I will be posting up the images of the storyboard once it has been uploaded onto the computer. =D
Music Video Ideas
Charlotte luis and I put together our ideas for the music video and have written the ideas we like down on a big peice of paper. We discussed what we could do with our ideas and started building a story for the video. we have marked things we want to include in the video and have written down the specific details or effects that we want in certain places.
We havn't fully decided everything that we would inclde in the video and thought that we needed more ideas. But we have decided on the overall idea of the music video but not all the specific details. We are still thinking about the ennding of the storyline to our musoc video.

The album cover
Luis, Charlotte and I had taken pictures for our album cover with the original idea we had. We tried taking the pictures in different angles with the odd person in the middle and everyone else surrounding that person wearing green clothing. Unfortunately the images did not turn out as well as we had hoped it would, and our idea didn't seem like like it was going to work.
Due to this problem we have come up with come up with new ideas for the album cover, and will be taking the pictures and posting them soon.

Ideas for album cover
Yesterday Charlotte had contacted me to discuss the ideas for the draft of our album cover. Luis Charlotte and i have similar ideas of having a person at the middle of a crowd or a place being the odd one out.
Yesterday Charlotte and luis came up with the idea of having a group of people surrounding the girl in our video all wearing similar cloths and the girl in the middle wearing a different set of clothing. We decided that the people surrounding the girl will all be wearing green tops. I think that this is a good idea for our album cover.
Our previous idea for the album cover was a vertical black line in the middle of the cover, with a girl inside holding a picket sign saying 'The Middle'. we were going to have words going across the top saying JIMMY in black, EAT in white and then WORLD in black.

Ideas for the Music Video
The rest of the group and i have decided to come up with our own ideas for what the video should contain using the lyrics. After we have come up with our ideas we are going to discuss them with each other and use the ideas to come up with our final decision for what the video will contain and what the storyline of the video will be.
Today i have looked at the lyrics to come up with my own idea for what the video should have in it. Below is the scan of my ideas for each verse of the song.
My idea is basically about a girl coming out of her shell and being able to talk to people and make freinds. She finds that all it takes is just a little time and in the end everything is just fine.

Research of Jimmy eat world
Jimmy eat world is an american band who play alternative rock(Punk rock, post-punk, hardcore punk, new wave, rock and roll, rock, pop)music.
The group consists of four members:
*Jim Adkins-(lead vocals rhythm guitar)
*Tom Linton-(lead guitar, backing vocals)
*Rick Burch-(bass, backing vocals)
*and Zach Lind-(drums, percussion)
The group have been active in their musoc since 1993-present. In its early years, Jimmy Eat World was a punk rock band.

The song was just one of a number of tracks that was receiving a strong positive response from fans at concerts. The song was a breakthrough hit for Jimmy Eat World.

A2 Course work- Music video
For our A2 course work we were given the choice to create a music video or a movie trailer individually or in groups. Charlotte, Luis and I decided to go in a group and decided to make a music video.
For this we are to create a promotion package for the release of an album, to include a music promo video together with two of the three options:
-a website homepage for the band
-a album cover
-a magazine advertisement.
We will be creating the music video as a group, but for the two options we choose, we are to create them on our own, but come up rough ideas as a group.
For the preparation of our music video, in class as a group we came up with different song ideas that we wouldn’t mind using for our music video and have jotted them down on a big piece of paper. In the image below are the ideas we have come up with. The writing in the colour yellow is my ideas, the green colour is charlottes ideas and the black colour is Luis’s ideas.
After jotting our ideas down we have tried to narrow down our ideas to what one we like the best. In the image below is the list of ideas we have narrowed down our ideas to.
From this list we created a new list to decide upon by narrowing down our ideas again to a final decision. We have done this by voting on the songs we like the best. The image below shows our final choices.
In the end we chose the song by Jimmy Eat World - The Middle as we all like the song.
